Happy Birthday to American author, Raymond Chandler, born this day in 1888 in Chicago!

Chandler lost his job during the depression, and turned to writing to support himself – His first novel, “The Big Sleep” was published in 1939. Chandler published only 7 novels, all featuring his creation, Detective Philip Marlowe who was played by Humphrey Bogart in the screen version of “The Big Sleep”.
