A very happy Saturday everyone!

On this day in 1944, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the G.I. Bill, an unprecedented act of legislation designed to compensate returning members of the armed services for their efforts in World War II.

The bill fuels the growth of the middle class by making colleges and universities more affordable to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds – Almost half of the 16 million WWII veterans benefit by the time the original bill ends in 1956.
